How long have you been playing piano?
I've been playing for 20 years
When and how did you discover your love for it?
My love for music and piano was developed from a young age. My parents signed me up for lesson, which I enjoyed a lot. As I was growing older, I was slowly losing this spark but got it back in my mid teenage years when I started to arrange my favourite songs by ear.
At what age did you discover deathcore/heavy music in general?
When I was 14, I started to discover and interest in particular artists. It started off with Green Day, then it led to Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, I Killed the Prom Queen, Parkway Drive and so on. Heavier by the year.
What made you decide to blend the two together?
I'm an advocate for performing necessities in a fun and valuable way. I was very strongly encouraged to continue piano lessons through my teenage years, by my parents, which I tried to get out of once. I was focusing on a lot of exam pieces (Mozart, Bach, etc), which I wanted to break out of. It felt like a chore. I wanted to find a way which made me enjoy being a pianist and that was me playing my favourite heavy tracks' melodies on the keys.
You’ve obviously gotten some eyes on you over the years, how does that make you feel knowing there are people out there who love what you do?
Surprising, it doesn't make me feel any pressure. If anything, I feel incredibly grateful to know I am making such a positive impact on peoples' lives. I get a lot of messages from people saying I have inspired to strive towards their goals, no matter whether it is learning a new instrument, having a healthy work/life balance or building a successful name on social media.
What are some of your plans for the future?
Collaborating with different artists, creating more different types of content and finally releasing original music. Also travelling more!
