The production on this is fantastic. There is literally not one thing wrong with this record. Ive never heard of Abhorrent Deformity before this week. This was a great record to start with. The shining element on Slaughter Monolith, its how they aren’t super down tuned. But they are down tuned just enough to where it makes their technical aspect super heavy. Basically they go to show that you don’t have to be tuned super low in order to be a good death metal band.
The song structures aren’t really there. They seem to follow a 4/4 or something similar. If there is a verse or chorus I cant really tell. But what they lack there, they make up for in how heavy the vocals are. They fit so perfectly with the thunderous drums. A theme I seemed to find, is many different ways to kill. With a title like “Slaughter Monolith” one can only assume is has to do with death.
There is so much replay value in this record. It’s quickly growing to be one of my favorite of the year so far. Compared to their last effort “Entity of Malevolence”, they have definitely matured and found their sound. It’s rare for a band to find their natural sound so early in their career. But all of these guys are so naturally talented, its no surprise that this record is a masterpiece. The drums definitely got tighter and a bit more technical. The guitars have a bit more shred to them. The vocals seem to have a big more hatred in them. Everything just got better.
Overall, I love this record. It’s super heavy, and just such a masterpiece. I would HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who is a fan of technical death metal.
Special thanks to Comatose Music and Imperitive PR for recommending this.
