Band : Fools Brew
Album/EP : New Machine
Genre: Metal/Hard Rock
Label : N/A
Location : Chicago, Illinois
FFO : Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica
The band is just a teeny bit out of my comfort zone. But they have some harder elements that appeal to me. I think that’s a shining element of Fools’ Brew. They have heavy elements that could cater to fans of Pantera. But they can also blend in with the younger crowd and fans of Avenged Sevenfold. At first, I though the vocals were mixed a little high. But that’s just how he sounds. The mix is just right for this record.
The song structures are what you would expect from a hard rock/metal band. A verse followed by a chorus. A simple and typical arrangement is what could get these guys on the radio and even onto bigger summer festivals. Everything flowed very well. No super sudden tempo changes or overly flashy solos. I feel like a theme with New Machine, has to do with yourself becoming someone new. I am also probably super incorrect.
I’m definitely going to throw this in a playlist for work. It’s a fast paced, and fun-filled ep. Its got high energy and does not let up for one minute. My favorite part is definitely the energy. I feel like a lot of metal now a days is heavy and slow. This ep has anger, happiness, and high energy. It’s still heavy, but is never that slow.
Overall, it’s a solid release. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s definitely out of my comfort zone. But it will most definitely be thrown into a daily mix. They have supported BTL since day 1. So I will gladly back these guys till the end. If you’re a fan of a band that is out to make metal fun again, then New Machine by Fools’ Brew is most definitely the album for you.
