A lot of people are dong a self-produced/mixed record these days. Which isn’t bad because it means they can do it exactly how they want, when they want to. LA based ‘Illusive” has done exactly that. Being self-produced, it sounds pretty solid. Nothing sounds washed out or overdone. There is even a touch of ambient sounds in the background.
The song is roughly three and a half minutes, which is about average for a song these days. It flows pretty well. Quick and easy on the ears. The song sounds like it has something to do about the past. Almost like killing the past in order to have a better future. Which would be an interesting take on life.
As for replay value, I might spin this a few more times. Im not huge into metalcore anymore. But when I am in the mood, they will definitely be thrown into the playlist. This is their debut single, so I cant compare it to anything. But I will definitely check out the full album when they contact me. My favorite part of the track, is the Reflections/Born of Osiris like breakdowns. Both those bands are killer, and Illusive definitely reminds me of them.
Overall, its not a bad track. It’s a bit of a change of pace for me. But its beautiful and relaxing. Its got a hint of positivity to it. Which is something we all need in this day and age. Be on the lookout for the single and music video dropping 10/19/18!
